1) The Captain told Eddie he was the one who shot him in the leg in order to save his life.
2) Eddie is told that the Captain died from a land mine during their escape.
3) Eddie learns his second lesson about sacrifice being a part of life and that he must accept that the Captain shot him for a good reason.
4) All Eddie can think about is whether he saved the girl or not. He asks the Captain, but he can not give him the asnwer.

Part melodrama and part parable, Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven weaves together three stories, all told about the same man: 83-year-old Eddie, the head maintenance person at Ruby Point Amusement Park. As the novel opens, readers are told that Eddie, unsuspecting, is only minutes away from death as he goes about his typical business at the park. Albom then traces Eddie's world through his tragic final moments, his funeral, and the ensuing days as friends clean out his apartment and adjust to life without him. In alternating sections, Albom flashes back to Eddie's birthdays, telling his life story as a kind of progress report over candles and cake each year. And in the third and last thread of the novel, Albom follows Eddie into heaven where the maintenance man sequentially encounters five pivotal figures from his life (a la A Christmas Carol). Each person has been waiting for him in heaven, and, as Albom reveals, each life (and death) was woven into Eddie's own in ways he never suspected. Each soul has a story to tell, a secret to reveal, and a lesson to share. Through them Eddie understands the meaning of his own life even as his arrival brings closure to theirs.
Albom takes a big risk with the novel; such a story can easily veer into the saccharine and preachy, and this one does in moments. But, for the most part, Albom's telling remains poignant and is occasionally profound. Even with its flaws, The Five People You Meet in Heaven is a small, pure, and simple book that will find good company on a shelf next to It's A Wonderful Life. --Patrick O'Kelley

I find it funny how so far all of Eddie's people can not tell himif he saved the girl. He scarificed hislife for her and he doesn't even know if she lived. But then again the captain died to save his men but Eddie never knew that untill the captain had told him.
I Really wonder if eddie saved the girl. If he didnt it would seem like his death was a waste. But who really knows because if he didnt save her, there moght be a reason for it.
I think they will not tell Eddie if he had save the girl or not until he is in his own heaven. I think when the young girl goes to heaven when she is older and sies, Eddie will be one of her five people. Its ironic that Eddie feels his leg is holding him back meanwhile, its the thing that saved his life.
I think that Eddie will not be told whether he saved the little girl or not. I think if she has died, that she will be one of his five people that he will meet. If not, when she does die, i think Eddie will be one of her. Eddie also now understands why the captain shot his leg. It would have either been his leg, or his life.
I think it's ironic that no one can tell Eddie whether or not he saved the little girl. All of them were somehow impacted in his life and they still do not know about after his life. Eddie feels terrible when he finds out that the captain died for him. He tells the captain it was not worth it, but he learns his second lesson of sacrifice. He learns that the captain sacrificed his own life to save Eddie's, which Eddie just did to try and save the little girl.
1. This is a key point because Eddie has struggled with his leg all his life and now he finally understands why it happend and that it needed to happen.
2. He realises that he should not pity himself because of how horrible that the Captain died.
3. This is a key point because it shows that Eddie can finally get over the grudge that he felt and accept the truth and why it was done.
4. This is a key point because it will probaly be brought up in the book serveral times because this is the reason why Eddie died.
