In the scene were Eddie learns his 2nd lesson, his captain tell him about sacrifices. I had made a few sacrifices from being with my friends during vacations and breaks to stay home to watch my blind grandfather. In the end I realized me staying home with him isn't a sacrifice but a chance to spend time with him. Just like Eddie realized it wasn't a sacrifice he made but passing it on to others.

Eddie had made many sacrifices over his life time as most people do. Like most people he veiws those sacrifices as regrets. I think that the sacrifices you make in your life make you a better and stronger person in the long term. To take time out of being selfish and to be selfless makes you a more caring person.

I believe that there are many scarifices in life. Like that captain gave his life away to make sure the road was clear when he could have stayed in the car and all went over the land mine. I believe that it takes a stronger person to sacrifce something of someone else
