Literary Luminary

"No!" Eddie yelled. "No! No!" He banged until he was sure the glass would break. "No!" He kept yelling until he word he hadn't spoken in decades finally formed in this throat. He screamed that word then---He screamed it so loudly that his head throbbed. But the figure hunched over oblivious, one hand resting on the table, the other holding a cigar, never looking up, not matter how many times Eddie howled it,
"Dad! Dad! Dad!"

"The soldier in the next bed wakes up yelling, "What the hell?" He realizes where he is and drops back down, embarrassed."

"Eddie cathces his eye. His father looks down and runs his hand over the windowsill. Eddie tightens every muscle in his body and attempts, by sheer will, to force the trears back into his ducts."

For the second quote, this i think summarizes the life a soldier has when he returns home from war. The experince is always with him and effects his life forever. The images that stay with him, of war, are not good.

In the first quote, when i had first read it I was very shocked. I wasn't sure if he was screaming Dad because he had wanted to see him or if he did not. This quote really gave the perspective of how much he really hasn't seen or talked to his dad in a while.
