In the novel the Captain had scarificed him self for his other men. He tells Eddie that everbody has to make scarifices and some people get anrgy becuase they relize what the lost, like Eddie had. I related this to my self. I remeber all thoes times i didn't want to go places with my family becuas I wanted to go out with my firends. I thought that everyone was hving a good time but me becuase I stuck at home. When I read this it made me relize that alot of people are doing things that they don't want to be doing, but its scarifce. Some scrifces are bug like losing a life and others are small, but if means saving a life or seeing a person smile becuase your spending time with them, it is worth it.


The Captain had a promise, and that was to leave no man behinde. when Eddie was going into the fire the captain had shot him in the leg, but it saved his life. The Captain kept his promise that he made and in the world to day you don't tend to see that very offten. People say lots of things, but no action occurs. I can recall many times a promise made had been broken in my life. It takes someone strong to keep a promise, even stronger to keep a promise. People that say something and put it in to action are the people I admire, becuase today that doesn;t happen to offten.
