The Connector

Before the Caption shot Eddie, he tried to just talk to him and convince him not to try to save the people and just walk away like all the other soldiers were doing. Eddie was convinced nothing could hurt him and didn't even think about himself being hurt, or killed. People sometimes are very stubborn and wont just listen to others who are trying to help until they can prove it, or they find out there self. This connects to my life because last summer my parents would tell me every day not to drive or get in cars with teenagers or kids without experience. I was just like Eddie, I knew bad things had happened to other people, but I thought it would never, and could never happen to me.

Sometimes people need to sacrifice them selfs, parts of them selfs, others, ect., in order to protect someone else, or them self. The Caption sacrificed Eddie's leg by shooting him so he wouldn't go into the fire to try to save the people, and Eddie would have died if he went in. This is ironic because he wanted to go in to save other people meanwhile he would be sacrificing himself. I've never had to sacrifice something as big as the things that are sacrificed in this book, but I've had to sacrifice things such as, going out with my friends, for a soccer, basketball, lacrosse game or practice. Most people have had to sacrifice doing something they've wanted to for something they committed to or was just the right thing to do.
