For question number three, when the author said " war has crawled inside of Eddie".. ment that even when the war was over, Eddie still remebered everything that happened. And when his leg was shot, that stayed with him for his entire life. The war was a part of Eddie, whether he liked it or not.
The line, "for the first time he was ready to die," was a strong sentence and when I heard it I immediately thought that Eddie had seen too much of the war and he had wanted to go home. When the author says " war has crawled inside of Eddie," he means that the war was really getting to him and he was starting to go insane. When the captain said "I took your leg to save your life," I thought the captain made a very good point for why he did it. He said that it was either your life or your leg and I think Eddie, in the end, was very grateful for what he had done for him.
Four question number five, I think the caption meant by shooting him in the leg he saved his life. If he hadn't shot Eddie in the leg, Eddie would have burned to death, and it wasn't his time to die yet.
1.
I think is was the thing that got Eddie through the difficult times of his life because he truely loved her
2.
I think this is when Eddie accepted how he was in a negative way
3.
I think is means war became a part of who Eddie was and changed his personality
4.
I was shocked
5.
He took his leg in order to get Eddie to stop going into the burning building where he had died
