Part melodrama and part parable, Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven weaves together three stories, all told about the same man: 83-year-old Eddie, the head maintenance person at Ruby Point Amusement Park. As the novel opens, readers are told that Eddie, unsuspecting, is only minutes away from death as he goes about his typical business at the park. Albom then traces Eddie's world through his tragic final moments, his funeral, and the ensuing days as friends clean out his apartment and adjust to life without him. In alternating sections, Albom flashes back to Eddie's birthdays, telling his life story as a kind of progress report over candles and cake each year. And in the third and last thread of the novel, Albom follows Eddie into heaven where the maintenance man sequentially encounters five pivotal figures from his life (a la A Christmas Carol). Each person has been waiting for him in heaven, and, as Albom reveals, each life (and death) was woven into Eddie's own in ways he never suspected. Each soul has a story to tell, a secret to reveal, and a lesson to share. Through them Eddie understands the meaning of his own life even as his arrival brings closure to theirs.
Albom takes a big risk with the novel; such a story can easily veer into the saccharine and preachy, and this one does in moments. But, for the most part, Albom's telling remains poignant and is occasionally profound. Even with its flaws, The Five People You Meet in Heaven is a small, pure, and simple book that will find good company on a shelf next to It's A Wonderful Life. --Patrick O'Kelley

If I had to pickmy heaven I would mostlikly want to be like Eddie and see five people. I would pick the becuase it expalins life. You find out infomation you never new about events that just just passed you by with out even looking for a meaning.
I think Eddie's final heaven will be with his wife and all the people he cared about
I would bring a letter from my family or some one i caredabout becuase it is personal and could have meaning behinde it.
If I got to choose my heaven I think I would also like to meet 5 people to learn things that I hadn't before, like how I effected other peoples life and how that played into mine in the end.
3. I think that he will be able to be with all of his deceased love ones at the Carnival or at his home.
4. I would either bring a letter or a picture of my family.
1. My heaven would be similar to Eddie in the case that i would want to go through meeting the five people. This is because it give you good perspective on how your life was.
2. I think his final heaven will be Ruby Peir agian because its a part of who he is.
3. I would probally bring something i can wear that would remind me of my past and how the past made me who i at that moment.
1. If I could choose my heaven, I would also pick to meet five people so i could look back on my life and just be able to see everything I did/could have done differently.
2. I think Eddies final heaven will be at Ruby Peir with the little girl he tried to save, causing his death.
3. I would bring a picture of my family and friends to keep with me at all times so I could look at it when I missed them or had a hard time.
1.) If I had to choose my heaven, I would want it to be just like my life right now, only a little easier.
2.) I think Eddie's final heaven would be the saddest because he might meet the girl because he's not sure if he died or not and now he will find out.
3.) I would bring a picture of a family because I know i will have their love and support.
If I chose my heaven it would be Bermuda on the beach. I had the most fun there with my family. I would want to be somewhere relaxing.
I think Eddies final heaven will be at Ruby Pier with Marguerite. He was the happiest when he was with Marguerite.
I would take a picture also, so i could feel the company of my family and peopel i love.
1. If I had to choose my heaven it would be on a beach, but before I get there I'd like to meet five people that my life effected them.
2. I think Eddie's final heaven will be with Marguerite at the Ruby Pier.
3. I would bring a letter from a family member or friend to try to keep my spirit up during the hardships.
