2. Why do you think Eddie wanted to go into the burning hut to see if someone was in there?
3. Why do you think the author tells us so much about Eddie when he was in the war?
4. How would you feel if someone you cared about was very ill and died right next to you?
5. What do you predict the second lesson is?

When I was reading this part in the book, I had a feeling that it was going to be the Captain, when they said Eddie was shot in the leg. The Captain wouldn't have left Eddie to burn alive.
When I read the Eddie's captain was the one who shot him I was a little confused. I wasn't sure if he did it mistakingly or the reason for why he did it on purpose. I think Eddie wanted to go into the burning hut because he truly thought that someone ran in, whether he was just imagining it or not, he was trying to do the right thing. I think the author tells us so much about Eddie when he was in the war because it was a major part of Eddie's life and you could probably see how he has changed after the war is over.
1. I felt shocked but i knew that he was only trying to help him and save his life.
2. He wanted to save someones life.
3. To show how the war effected Eddie and his young life.
4. I would feel so upset and feel like i could of helped them.
5.I think the second lesson will be something about dealing lifes challenges.
I feel like the author tells us so much about Eddie's life during the war because it was a life changing event. It changed the way he felt about things and he was never the same afterwards.
1. I was shocked that he had shot him but at the same time i wondered what his reason was to back up the shooting
2. I think Eddie saw a piece of himself as well as others that he loved in the "person in the burning hut" and by saving them, he was saving a piece of himself and what he loves that the war had previously taken away.
3.
The war was a major turning point in Eddies life that molded the person Eddie is today
4.
I would probablly be really upset and my personality would never be the same again
5.
I think the second lesson will be about the sacrifices you make in life for the greatergood
I think they talk about the war so much because it will take a toll on some of the decisions and issues Eddie will face later in life.
-I wondered why he did it and if he did with good intentions or not.
-Eddie might had feelt guilty after killing so many people in war and now he wants to save someone but there is no one to save.
-For eddie's life war must have been a verry important part of his life because he learned to do so many things, and he almost lost his leg because of it.
-It would be very depresing i would probly get revenge like Smitty did.
-The second lesson might be everything happens for a reason.
1. I felt surprised and confused because at first I did not understand why.
2. Because he is a compassionate person and cares about the health of other people. He wanted to save a life.
3. To show that the war contributed to his personality and how it effected his life at home as well.
4. I would be very upset and wish I could've helped them.
5. The second lesson I believe will be about cause and effect, or patience?
1. I felt it was very ironic that the thing Eddie felt held him back (his wounded leg) was the the thing that saved his life.
2.I think Eddie wanted to go back in the huts because he felt shocked about what he had done and was outraged that the crazies held him there while everyone else left.
3.Being in war made Eddie become a different peron, it is one of the major turning points in his life.
4.I would be very upset and it would change my life forever and be very traumitizing.
5.That you never leave anyone behind, because thats Eddie's philosphy he learned from the Captian.
1. I felt surprised because you wouldn't expect the person that Eddie respected to be the person the shot him and ruined the rest of his life.
2.I think Eddie wanted to go into the burning hut because he felt bad because no one deserves to burn to death.
3.I think the author tell us a lot about Eddie at war because it was one of the most important events that changed his life forever.
4.I would feel very bad because I would want to help them as much as possible but I know there would be nothing I can do.
5.I predict the second lesson is trying to make good out of the bad events in your life.
